Medical Missions in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic with a population of approximately 9,000,000 people is one of the poorer countries in the Caribbean.  The country has no national health care system.  Although the wealthy are able to access the private health care system, the majority of the population has no access to even the most basic health care.  To help address this problem of lack of health care, the Encounter Group is involved in medical outreach to the poor.  Clinics are held in and around the capital city of Santa Domingo and Encounter Group is developing a full time clinic in one of the ghetto areas of the city.
